USGBC Charlotte Chapter Joined by Jordan & Skala Engineers for the E-Pros
Sure, “rolling up one’s sleeves” is part of life in the building industry, but getting muddy? A good cause hosted by the USGBC Charlotte Chapter was motivation enough for a dozen future business leaders to don waders and get dirty on the banks of Little Sugar Creek in North Carolina.
On June 19, 2013, the Charlotte, NC chapter of the USGBC organized their E-Pros, a.k.a. Emerging Professionals, to their bi-annual clean-up of Little Sugar Creek, an urban waterway that is the centerpiece of Charlotte’s newest greenway and linear park. Mike Iosue from Jordan & Skala was part of the energetic 30-and-under professionals’ group that cleared trash and debris from approximately six blocks of the creek bank.
The event, which was followed by a networking happy hour at a nearby taco tavern, demonstrated how effective (and fun!) sustainability-oriented community service projects are when you collaborate with like-minded peers!
