Jordan & Skala Principal Celebrates President’s Day through Mentoring
In recognition of President’s Day, hear from Jordan and Skala’s Austin Principal, Rex Drake, on his view of what President’s Day means to him and why he spends the holiday giving back to the community:
“I reflect upon Washington and the Founding Fathers, and the sacrifices they made in the birth of our nation. They had a vision unlike any other in history, and they made it happen. We enjoy the fruits of their vision more than two centuries later. We do a disservice to those brave men if we do not remember their vision, sacrifices, and achievements.
How will I mark President’s Day? I will spend a day mentoring the next generation of patriots in the local 4H program. It’s my opportunity to pay it forward.”
4-H is a program that provides youth the opportunity to learn about Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) through fun, hands-on activities and projects. Rex volunteers with the Hays County 4H program where he mentors youth between the ages of 10-17 years old.
