Jordan & Skala Featured in Construction in Focus Article
For over 65 years, Jordan & Skala Engineers has implemented sustainable engineering to design buildings that better the community and enhance our clients’ lives. We were honored to be able to speak with Construction in Focus magazine to discuss the impact that sustainability and energy services has on the Architectural/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) industry.
In the article Building it Better, Building it Green, our Director of Sustainability, Aaron McEwin, discusses the various projects across the nation that his team has worked on, and the unique challenges that they have had to overcome in order to find sustainable solutions.
McEwin also speaks to how his team, uses various energy and green building programs, as well as general sustainability engineering knowledge to give back to the community and those who are less fortunate. “We do energy code testing for Habitat for Humanity. We do the duct tightness to make sure air isn’t leaking, and test the walls and the windows to make sure the houses are not leaky. That goes a long way to reducing the costs for heating and cooling.” Jordan & Skala Engineers also focuses heavily on sustainability and energy services efforts through HUD financing, which helps people attain residences at a rate that is affordable for them.
It is Jordan & Skala’s mission to not just have sustainability as a design approach, but as a key part of every project we work on. By having sustainability at the forefront of our approach, we can help building stakeholders make smart, informed, and value-based decisions while simultaneously bring communities closer together and improve the environments we live in.
“We want to give back to the community that we serve. To me it is not just about family, it’s about community”. -Aaron McEwin
