Healthful Living Webinar
About the Webinar:
As we prepare for a post-pandemic world, the role of building design in occupant health and safety has seen increased interest and urgency. In rethinking design and wellness, we are proud to have collaborated with TCA Architects for the “Healthy Design for New & Existing Multifamily Buildings” webinar. For this webinar, with nearly 500 registrants, Matt Marvel was invited to act as moderator, and Don Sheffield had the honor of speaking.
In addition to expert insights from panelists from TCA Architects, Greystar, the Center for Active Design/Fitwel, and Jordan & Skala Engineers, live session attendees received one LU/HSW Continuing Education Unit (CEU) as recognition for staying up to date with the latest developments in the A/E/C industry.
Thanks to all who joined our discussion about the future of sustainable building design and the growing health and safety demands on the next generation of multifamily developments. Despite the challenges brought to the A/E/C industry by COVID-19, we are excited to share our knowledge of design and viability as we move toward a more sustainable future in the built space.
Topics covered:
- Emerging design concepts for both individual units and common amenity spaces in multifamily buildings to minimize “forced proximity” and better allow for social distancing. By lowering a person’s stress level in the built environment, we promote a healthier indoor space.
- The latest advancements in HVAC technology and their applications in COVID-19 mitigation strategies.
- Architects’ and engineers’ roles in supporting wellbeing indoors, as well as the CDC’s research on the direct connection between the built environment and individual health, from lower stress levels to healthcare cost savings.
- The costs and benefits of investing in existing or future multifamily portfolios, and how it helps promote brand awareness and adds value for residents; health and wellness play a vital role in the investment community, and the evolution of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) will be a key driver in future developments.

I enjoyed the collaboration and well-orchestrated presentation. One of the best put together online presentation styles I have seen.
