Commercial Construction Services

Verify that Your Building Performs the way it was Designed to

Jordan & Skala provides commissioning, testing, inspection, and verification services that help Owners and project teams confirm what is happening in the finished building. Our Sustainability team evaluates building systems and conditions against applicable codes, program requirements, and project goals.

Know What You're Getting From the Building

We help translate program requirements into actionable decisions.

Commissioning and verification provide an opportunity to identify issues before they become operational problems. JSE helps project teams confirm that systems are installed, operating, and performing as expected.

Our services can help you:

  • Verify that building systems meet applicable requirements
  • Identify issues before they become costly operational problems
  • Confirm that systems are functioning as intended
  • Evaluate existing building performance
  • Identify opportunities for operational or energy improvements
  • Support green building certification and energy code requirements
  • Give owners better information for ongoing building management

The goal isn’t simply to check a box. It’s to give owners confidence that the building they planned is the building they received.

Building Commissioning

JSE commissions major mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to verify that they are installed and operating according to the design intent, applicable codes, owner requirements, and selected green building programs.

Existing buildings can develop operational issues as systems age, spaces change, or equipment is replaced. JSE evaluates current building systems and identifies opportunities to improve operation, coordination, and performance.

JSE evaluates air barriers, air sealing, and thermal envelope performance to help verify that the building envelope meets applicable energy code or green building requirements.

Air leakage testing measures how much uncontrolled air is moving through the building envelope. JSE performs pressure testing for applicable commercial buildings to identify leakage and evaluate results against project or program requirements.

Commercial Energy Code Inspections

JSE provides energy code inspections and documentation when required by a local jurisdiction. Our team verifies applicable requirements and can identify practical corrections when a project does not meet the required standard.

Energy audits help owners understand how an existing building is using energy and where improvements may provide value. JSE offers ASHRAE Level 1, 2, and 3 audits, depending on the depth of analysis required.

JSE can evaluate factors including particulate matter, TVOCs, formaldehyde, carbon monoxide, ozone, and other VOCs to support building assessments and green building requirements.

Photometric verification confirms that lighting levels meet project requirements in areas such as interior spaces, walkways, and parking structures. JSE can evaluate light trespass and support applicable dark-sky requirements.

Commissioning for Different Project Requirements

Green Building Programs

Commissioning can be required as part of green building certification or other sustainability programs. JSE works with project teams to verify applicable mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building-envelope requirements.

Energy Codes

Energy codes establish minimum requirements for building systems and performance. JSE can provide commissioning and inspection services based on the adopted code and local amendments applicable to the project.

Owner Requirements

Owners may have performance expectations that extend beyond code or certification requirements. JSE can incorporate Owner project requirements into the commissioning process and help verify that critical systems support the intended operation of the building.

Existing Building Improvements

For existing facilities, commissioning can help identify problems that may not be apparent during normal operation. JSE evaluates current conditions and provides recommendations that owners can use to prioritize improvements and capital investments.

Why Choose JSE for Commercial Construction Services?

01

Sustainability, Low Voltage, and MEP Expertise

Commissioning and verification require an understanding of how systems are supposed to work together. JSE’s Sustainability team works alongside our in-house MEP and Low Voltage engineers, giving us direct insight into system design, coordination, and intended operation.

02

Practical Verification

We focus on identifying issues that matter to the building and the people responsible for operating it. Our findings are intended to give owners and project teams clear information they can act on.

03

New Construction and Existing Buildings Depth

JSE can support projects before occupancy and buildings that have been operating for years. Whether you’re verifying a new installation or investigating an existing problem, we can help establish what is happening and what should happen next.

04

National Experience

Our Sustainability team has supported projects across the country and works with a range of building types, codes, green building programs, and regional requirements. That experience helps us adapt our approach to the project rather than force every building through the same process.
