Jordan & Skala ranks as a Top 100 MEP Design Firm
JSE is celebrating 70 years in business and 22 consecutive years as a recognized leader in our industry.
Jordan & Skala Engineers, now celebrating 70 years in business, stands as a national leader in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design. Over the years, our expertise has evolved to include sustainability and low-voltage services, making us a comprehensive engineering solution provider.
What sets us apart is our unique ability to offer MEP design and integrated sustainability services under one roof. In today’s ever-evolving engineering landscape, this capability is invaluable. We are committed to “electrifying, decarbonizing, and digitalizing infrastructure” to create a more sustainable built environment. This mission aligns perfectly with the overarching theme Chris Finen of Eaton highlighted in this year’s MEP Giants rankings.
In this year’s rankings, the total design revenue for all listed firms has increased from $11.01 billion in the previous year to $11.96 billion. However, it’s important to note that gross annual revenue has experienced a four percent decrease. This revenue change aligns with the broader economic trend, which the downloadable press release subtly refers to as a “slow burn,” despite the rise in design revenue over the past year. As our Principal, Andy Smith, summarized, “COVID halted both public and private construction from 2020 to 2021. Then, 2022 brought an economic avalanche of new construction awards due to the pent-up demand caused by the prior shutdown. This demand created a perfect storm in 2023 with many new construction projects taking off while supply chain challenges in almost every sector (electrical gear, lighting fixtures, architectural finishes) continued to delay projects.”
Despite these challenges, Jordan & Skala Engineers remains optimistic about the opportunities ahead. The new construction sector, which accounts for 43% of our design revenue amongst MEP Giants, has maintained its stability from the previous year. Additionally, we are noticing a growing trend in adaptive reuse projects and retrofitting existing developments with modern technology, such as the increasing popularity of EV Charging stations. Our Regional Director, John Mayeda, recently addressed this trend in a webcast, discussing the retrofitting of boilers in existing systems as an example.
As the economy adapts, it presents new opportunities for firms like Jordan & Skala that excel in taking on challenging projects focused on revitalizing existing buildings and materials. We are proud to be part of the MEP Giants rankings once again this year, alongside other outstanding firms. We remain committed to being a valuable resource for our clients as they navigate the dynamic and shifting landscape.
