Energy Star MFHR Certification Awarded to SkyHouse Atlanta

SkyHouse Atlanta has been awarded Energy Star Multi-Family High-Rise (MFHR) Certification, which is the first MFHR building in the country to receive the Energy Star MFHR Certification through this program that officially rolled out in June 2011.  The new, 23-story apartment building on Atlanta’s West Peachtree Street offers 320 units, a rooftop pool and amenity deck, a spacious clubroom, a state of the art fitness center and breathtaking views.

Jordan & Skala designed the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems to be at least 15% more energy efficient than multi-family high rise buildings built to current, standard ASHRAE code. Even with the heating and cooling challenge of having a high percentage of glass in the building, Jordan & Skala has demonstrated that energy efficiency and luxury living can successfully co-exist.

Sustainable details which helped the building earn Energy Star MFHR designation include:

• High-performance exterior windows and doors with thermally broken frames.
• High-performance building envelope using increased continuous wall and roof insulation.
• High-efficiency heat pump HVAC systems.
• Energy star appliances.
• Low-flow water-sense plumbing fixtures.
• Premium efficiency motors on domestic water pumps.
• High efficiency fluorescent / LED lighting throughout the building.
• Occupancy lighting sensors in all public spaces.
• Continuous ventilation in all living units, thus improving indoor air quality.
